Spend the holidays in Silver Springs, where the greatest gift of all is the love you never expected.
Up-and-coming TV anchor Emery Bliss can't imagine anything more humiliating than the sex tape her ex revenge-posted online. That is, until it causes her to lose her job on top of her self-esteem. Seeking solace--and anonymity--in Silver Springs, Emery isn't looking to get involved with another man any time soon. But when she's thrown back into contact with Dallas Turner, she sees something that his many detractors have missed.
Being home for the holidays and his adoptive mother's wedding isn't where mountain climber Dallas feels most comfortable. Thanks to his troubled childhood, he'd rather be on a rock face alone than trying to connect with people. Emery, however, makes him want to overcome his past...somehow.
Both Emery and Dallas had been planning on a quiet, solitary Christmas, but the sparks between them are lighting a fire strong enough to last--possibly forever.

A California Christmas ( Silver Springs #7) by Brenda Novak
The continuation of the Silver Springs series, new characters mixed with other characters from the past novels. This novel held a bit of irony in some ways for me as I was fired from my job but not under the same circumstances as Emery. And I didn’t have the hero, Dallas, to help give me strength to get through my traumatic situation. But God was there to hold me up, toughen me up and let me know I did the right thing. As I believe in the end Emery stood tall and stood her ground and wasn’t going to let her ex and her employer get away with what they did to her. They say children are resilient and bounce back fast from injuries and hurts. I believe as Emery and Dallas have done as adults - adults can be just as resilient and bounce back too with patience, strength and the willingness to hold you head high and keep your backbone straight. No matter what. Brenda Novak wrote a complicate difficult tightrope storyline for both characters and was able to pull off that they could survive and live fulfilling lives after their tragedies. If we “believe” we can - then we will.
Wonderful story.
Side Note: again the dedication in the novel was heart rendering, brought tears to my eyes, Brenda is so compassionate about her dedicate book lovers.
