Athenaiou Naukratitou Deipnosophistai

This is Volume 11 of "Athenaiou Naukratitou Deipnosophistai", by Athenaeus of Naucratis. "Deipnosophists" ( " € 1/2 ƒ † ƒ „ ), also known as "The Philosophers' Banquet", is a voluminous work of prose in fifteen books. It is presented as a dialogue taking place at a series of banquets hosted by Publius Livius Larensis for a group of 29 intellectuals. The speakers, identified by name, are authorities on a wide range of topics, but are primarily concerned with Greek literature, history, gastronomy, and philosophy. The work preserves a vast number of quotations and allusions to works that are otherwise lost, making it an invaluable resource for scholars of antiquity. This volume offers a continuation of the rich discussions and insights found throughout the complete work.
