Book Overview

" Attachments is so perfectly engaging, so sly, and so funny I read it all in one sitting, then went back and read my favorite scenes a second time...I hope Rowell never stops writing." -Haven Kimmel Beth and Jennifer know their company monitors their office e-mail. But the women still spend all day sending each other messages, gossiping about their coworkers at the newspaper and baring their personal lives like an open book. Jennifer tells Beth everything she can't seem to tell her husband about her anxieties over starting a family. And Beth tells Jennifer everything, period. When Lincoln applied to be an Internet security officer, he hardly imagined he'd be sifting through other people's inboxes like some sort of electronic Peeping Tom. Lincoln is supposed to turn people in for misusing company e-mail, but he can't quite bring himself to crack down on Beth and Jennifer. He can't help but be entertained-and captivated- by their stories. But by the time Lincoln realizes he's falling for Beth, it's way too late for him to ever introduce himself. What would he say to her? "Hi, I'm the guy who reads your e-mail, and also, I love you." After a series of close encounters and missed connections, Lincoln decides it's time to muster the courage to follow his heart . . . even if he can't see exactly where it's leading him. Written with whip-smart precision and charm, Attachments is a strikingly clever and deeply romantic debut about falling in love with the person who makes you feel like the best version of yourself. Even if it's someone you've never met.

Very Fun

It’s a wild ride but I wish the characters had more interactions sooner or at least got a longer ending than the ‘and they lived happily ever after’. I was waiting so long for waiting for the first tense meeting only to have it happen like 40 pages from the end. I needed more than just awkward pining. I was honestly really worried this was going to turn out to be a “and then they realized the only love they needed was the love they could give to themselves’ sort of book. Thank goodness it wasn’t just that.

Interesting and lovely

This book is told a somewhat unconventional manner, but it tells a beautiful story nonetheless. The character are eccentric and funny, but human in the way Rainbow Rowell always manages to capture. Attachments is different, but a good read.

Great story

This was such a fun story. I liked the way things turned out for them. It was a quick read.

Could have been shorter.

What I really enjoyed about this book was that the characters felt real and dealt with real problems. The switch POV was fun to read but, my problem was that it seemed to drag on in some areas. I recommend this if you’re a hopeless romantic.

Didn’t like it

Compared to her other books (of which I’m SUCH a fan of) this book just wasn’t that great. It was boring and uneventful for quite a few chapters. Pick another book by Rainbow Rowell for your next read!

Unique, Complex, & Intriguing "Romance"

This book was super fun to read. It had such a unique "romance story". You don't necessarily know what's going to happen next. This was one of my favorite books. Rainbow Rowell has a way of writing that just makes me want to finish the book in a day, but also makes me sad when it's over. It was such a good read. I recommend this book to literally anyone who enjoys romance and "a day in the life" kind of books. I've never read anything like this story before.

Such a refreshing, witty read!

This is a romance you won't be embarrassed to read and will immediately want to reread your favorite parts! Laugh out loud funny with characters you'll fall in love with. Clean, real and hilarious - highly recommend!

You may not know what it is, but chances are you've read one. By definition, an epistolary novel is one made up partly or entirely of documents like letters, diary entries, newspaper articles, or emails. These stories capture the longing we feel for togetherness in times of separation. Here are ten of our favorites.
