In this third book in New York Times bestselling, Newbery Honor-winning author Shannon Hale's Princess Academy series, Miri goes from student . . . to teacher
Miri has spent a year at the palace, learning all about being a proper princess. But before she can return to her beloved Mount Eskel, the king has a task for her: Miri must travel to a distant swamp to start a princess academy for three sisters, cousins of the royal family. Unfortunately, Astrid, Felissa, and Sus are more interested in hunting and fishing than royal rules. As Miri spends more time with the girls, she realizes the king and queen's interest in them hides a long-buried secret. Relying on her own strength and intelligence, Miri must unravel the mystery while protecting the sisters--and maybe then she can finally make her way home. Not as good as the first 2, but it still has something of worth to say.

I read 75% of this in one sitting because I couldn’t stop reading it!
A strong and satisfying ending to the Princess Academy trilogy. Miri’s character and the tone of the books remain consistent, which works really well paired with the different settings and themes each book tackles.
The book starts off with Miri traveling on her own to a completely unfamiliar setting. Fortunately, with linder nearby and several letters between chapters, the book doesn’t suffer from the sudden, complete change that so often drags down other books.
Like always, the characters are really well-done, specifically the female characters, because the book focuses on those the most. Although the Queen isn’t in the book very much, I found her arc compelling (especially as a continuation from the first book). I liked the sisters a lot, too. Their bond with Miri was really sweet.
It was not quite as strong as the first or second book in my opinion. The ending felt a little unrealistic, but overall it had strong, good themes, was well-written and generally clever, and was a very enjoyable read. I never had to push myself to keep reading, it was always interesting and enjoyable.
