This book was written way back in 1864 and the story is one of great beauty and tragedy which as we all know makes for an intriguing tale. Jules de Haberville and Archibald Cameron of Locheill meet at seminary in Quebec. Jules is from a prosperous French-Canadian family while Archie is a poor Scot. Jules is a natural born comic and Archie is pretty dour. Nevertheless they become great friends and brothers. As they mature into young men the War of 1759 starts and Jules is fighting for the French while Archie is fighting for the British. The war causes great turmoil for both but through all of the adversity their friendship remains intact despite the many obstacles. The other characters such as Jose and Dumais round out this page turning saga. A must read!
