This series is a must-have for anyone interested in how the military works (worked) in various wars.
Most books on wars give the reasons leading up to the war, the highlights of the war, and the results of the war. They can be in some sort of detail, but gloss over the mechanics of the war.
There is a mountain of Technical Manuals telling what you should do and giving some graphics. But there is nothing as well-detailed as this book.
This particular book on German infantry in WW II uses detailed maps and command hierarchy (describing the individuals) that make up each campaign or battle.
