Pee-Wee witnesses an old sailor, now turned peddler, receive rough treatment from from a local policeman. Pee-Wee steps in and becomes involved with the man, Pop Rossey, and his grandson, Sammy. Pop and Sammy live on a condemned river barge. Pee-Wee, always up for an adventure, spends time on the barge as it drifts down the river. On the barge, he learns about the proud sailor and his desperate attempt to become a peddler to be able to support his grandson and keep them together. Through a twist of fate, that barge fulfills one last purpose important to everyone involved.
