This book was a valuable interpreting resource material for me. It can be argued that - although Indonesian (Bahasa Indonesia) is increasingly perceived as a separate language from Malaysian (Bahasa Malaysia) - there are still significant speakers of both Indonesian and Malaysian/ Malay who regard that they are both dialectical branches of the same language. I, for one agree with the latter view. It is definitely not intended to novice or beginners of either languages but it is ideal for speakers of Malaysian Malay who would like to know about the basic differences of the Malaysian and Indonesian dialects. This book bridges the gaps between these two variants of the Malay languages. Liaw Yock Fang has definitely contributed to the advancement of the Malay language as the major Lingua Franca of South East Asia. Thanks.
