The Inner Journey: A Cantata of Prayers, Meditations and Exaltations to The God of All Creation

The Inner Journey is a 238 page Cantata written for orchestral ensembles mixed with choir, and soloists. The work is subtitled "A Cantata of Prayers, Meditations and Exaltations to The God of All Creation." The Inner Journey is in its purest sense the journey of my heart and mind into the presence of our wonderful Lord and Savior, and perhaps these reflections will help you in your walk with Christ as well; as He deserves all the praise for He provided me with the courage, talent, determination, knowledge and skill to compose this work. I believe that God is the true author of beautiful music, and that it takes, in some cases, a lifetime to discover with accuracy the harmonic and melodic design that He alone embeds into the physics of music. In light of this, these pieces were worked on, and then abandoned for years, and then resumed several times to reach the level at which I believe they are now ready to release. Much of my life went into writing and crafting all the vocal and orchestral parts to produce these scores. I hope they achieve the intent by which they were written - to draw the hearts and minds of men, women and children into the presence of The God of All Creation. This edition is designed specifically for a conductor with access to well-trained musicians in an orchestra, an excellent pianist, along with professional vocalists and choral ensembles. The overall character of the music is devotional and spiritual, and the style of the music is a blend of classical and jazz harmony that require voices with a reasonably high range and as mentioned, good musicians, but especially an excellent pianist with a good understanding of chromatic jazz harmony to adequately give faithful renditions of these scores. 
 The basic layout of the book is divided into 2 sections: 1) conductor scores 2) individual parts and small ensembles. In the back of the book I provided a Orchestral & Choral Key Chart so that a conductor can quickly get an idea of the key or keys used in modulation in a piece, along with the number of vocalists and musicians required for the performance of any given piece in the book. Every piece has a different combination of musicians and vocalists. They are marked with standard ensemble designations such as solo, duet, trio, quartet, quintet, sextet, soprano, alto, tenor, bass and the name of the instruments used such as violin, flute, trumpet and piano.
 In reference to the key structure, it should be pointed out that all 12 key signatures (tonal centers) are used at least once in the course of this work. Skill at reading proficiently in difficult keys at times is needed. As already pointed out some of the piano parts can be rather difficult to play at speed, and may require significant practice time. In the title page of each conductor score in the bottom right hand corner I recorded the performance time. The time for each piece is taken from my Finale software that plays the piece in time along with any ritards and fermatas and is an accurate indication of how long the piece should take if performed according to the tempos marked in the score, and can be helpful in creating a performance that best enhances the feeling and mood of the songs.
 In the back of the book, I also included a Theory and Chord Construction Chart with an explanation of intervals and chord formulas to better understand the chromatic jazz theory. Chord symbols are included in the conductor scores and with the vocal parts, and instrumental cues are also placed in the vocal parts to allow for practice and/or alternate performance with an excellent jazz guitarist or pianist and bass player able to improvise and read these charts.
