"Nothing special" is the best way to describe Owen Reeder--at least that's what he's been told all his life. When a stranger visits his father's bookstore, Owen's ordinary life spirals out of control and right into a world he didn't even know existed. Owen believes the only gift he possesses is his ability to devour books, but he is about to be forced into a battle that will affect two worlds: his and the unknown world of the Lowlands. Perfect for readers ages 10 to 14 who enjoy a fast-paced story packed with action, fantasy, and humor.
My son is not an avid fantasy reader, but he did read and enjoy this series (The Book of the King, The Author's Blood, The Minions of Time, The Changeling). He's only 10, though, and admitted he didn't understand everything he read. It must have been the plot that kept him going. I really do not like fantasy literature, so I didn't read the books myself. Yet I feel confident that a book by Jerry Jenkins would have the solid moral base that I would wish for my child. I would suggest that your child give this series a try, if only because in fifth grade, the reading curriculum in many public schools includes a fantasy series like The Book of Three (The Chronicles of Prydain). I think my son was more prepared to understand and enjoy his required reading because of his involvement with this series.
Great series

This is a great series. My kids hardly put the books down and can't wait till Feb of 08 when the last two books come out. These books will help to show the importance of character in our lives. And the fact that God loves us now matter how baddly we have blown it.
