Authors Notes
Sharing stories is a great way to bring children, parents, grandparents, uncles, and aunts together. Picture books with a mix of entry-level words and more challenging words and phrases keep a book interesting for both the reader and the listener and enjoyment by both parties encourages early readers to want to join in with the decoding fun. Chai Dog stories are grounded enough in everyday life to allow readers to relate to Chai's experiences, but they have a sprinkling of the unusual or unbelievable to engage young minds. Chai's adventures are based loosely on real-life antics and foibles of my own fur baby Chai, who is a seven-year-old chihuahua poodle cross, with some whimsical fictional experiences thrown in for good measure. If these books help to encourage your child's reading enthusiasm and skills while having a laugh or 'What the' moment, they will have done their job.
