This book series is a PREQUEL story to the events of the video game. A failed attempt to attack the Red Cobras on their home turf leaves Raziel and Rin's alliance severed, as Rin disappears in a poof of smoke.
Their arch rival Nox, uses their division to
recruit Raziel into the Red Cobras. Nox sends him on a mission to betray the Masters by infiltrating the ultra secret vault beneath the Monastery and stealing a very important artifact that had fallen from the sky.
What Raz discovers within the Master's secret chamber is a pillar (The Phantom Pillar) that has the potential to bring back the Ancients, and restore the balance the Ancients once brought to the world.
When Raziel touches the Phantom Pillar, he blanks out and awakens moments later in the Twilight Realm, where he confronts his Ancient ancestors, and pleads with them to imbue him with their power so that he can defeat the Red Cobras, and reignite their honor and legacy. He is able to convince them, but only under the condition that he must fulfill a greater role.
